Virginia Ray Pell, 83, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. She was born in Halifax County, NC and moved to Newport News in 1949. Virginia was a former volunteer at the VA Hospital and cutter for the Asheville-Schoonmaker Mica Co. She was a talented artist, loved game shows on TV and hanging out at the mall. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jesse James Pell. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara A. Nix and Mary Alice Hergott of Newport News; her sisters, Hazel Dickinson and Martha Trevathan of Newport News; her brother, Bobby Lee Thompson of Surry; and her two grandsons, Dillon Hergott and Sean Nix.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:30 pm on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Peninsula Memorial Park by Rev. Dennis Worsham. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
