Thomas Abraham Bratton, 86, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018. He was a native of Baltimore, MD and grew up in Deltaville, VA. He was a resident of the Peninsula for the last 68 years. Thomas served two years in the Navy and was a graduate of the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School. He was a ship designer for over 25 years. Thomas was an avid baseball fan. He grew up playing baseball in Deltaville and coached youth baseball. Thomas was an encyclopedia of baseball knowledge.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Dorothy Schrum Bratton of Newport News; his sons, Randall S. Bratton of Matthews, NC and Ellyson Bratton of Newport News; his brother, Robert E. Bratton and his wife, Jackie of Richmond; two grandchildren, Chase and Melissa; his step granddaughter, Celeste; and his nephew, David Bratton and wife, Jennifer of Richmond.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 pm on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
