Celebration of Life: Private
Thelma Anne Booher departed this life on January 25, 2018, at the home of her daughter after a lengthy illness. She was born in Washington, North Carolina. She originally moved to Newport News in 1944. She moved to Melbourne, FL in 1957 where she was a homemaker, wife and mother for 25 years. She moved back to Newport News in 1981 where she has resided since.
“Doodle” as she was lovingly called throughout her life, had varied interests and hobbies. She was a member of the Newport News FOPA in the 80’s during which time she ran the neighborhood crime watch. She loved gardening, making jewelry, reading and art.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry S. Snell and Thelma I. Perry. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Booher, Newport News, VA; Sister, Nan S. Beddingfield, Hampton, VA; Half Siblings, Dierdre Hoffman (Dave); Brendan Perry and Kevin Perry; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by all that loved her and a celebration of life will be held at the home of her daughter at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Peninsula SPCA or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
