Mrs. Sylvia Ann (Parks) Barton, born on March 24, 1942, in Charlette, NC, was lying comfortably at home, Curtis Manor, in Newport News, VA with her Son, Johnny Barton, by her side on October 18, 2021, when the Lord called her home to heaven.
She is survived by her Uncle, Charlie Curtis (Barbera); Brother, Dudley Curtis; Sister, Bunny Parks Ultes (Eric); Brothers-in-law, Thomas Barton, and Billy Barton (Nancy). Her Son, Johnny Barton; Grandchildren: Brandon Turcotte, Melissa Turcotte Ketcham, (James Ketcham III), Marranda Barton Miller (Tyler Miller) and Steven Barton, as well as her Great Grandchildren: Emily, William, and Baby Michael on the way.
She was predeceased by: Her Parents, Father, William Tate Parks, Step Father, Ashton Dudley Curtis and Mother, Helen King; Former husband, Mack Rufus Barton Jr. and Daughter, Sylvia Leigh.
Sylvia was known for her smile and laughter. She loved Family gatherings, ready to talk to everyone and anyone, the room seemed brighter when she entered. She loved her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with them. Sylvia was a loving and caring mother and friend…. she will be greatly missed by all. She worked in the Denbigh K-Mart Pharmacy for many years, in which she retired. Sylvia attended Denbigh Baptist Church in her earlier years, with her children and upon returning from her time in California. In her later years, she attended World Outreach Worship Center, while her health permitted.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., on October 30, 2021, at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, VA. Donations can be made to: American Diabetes Association. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
