Shirley Mozingo Kearney, 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. She had been a resident of Newport News since 1973. Shirley was a wife and homemaker and an avid fisherwoman, a wonderful cook and seamstress.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Kearney; her daughter, Debi Moore and siblings, Doris Carlo, Ralph Mozingo, Mae Smith, Thelma Jackson, Ester Phillips, Buck Mozingo, and Herman Mozingo. She is survived by her daughters, Paula Perales and her husband, David of Newport News and Susan Jackson of Newport News; her siblings, Hazel Pearce of Goldsboro, NC, Fred Mozingo of Selma, NC, Carolyn Davis of Smithfield, NC, Mary Alice Capps of Goldsboro, NC, Ray Mozingo of Clayton, NC, and Donnie Mozingo of Sunset Beach, NC; her grandchildren, Jeremiah Moore of Blackstone, VA, Jimmy Keith of Richmond, VA, Michael Keith of Richmond, VA, Sammy Keith of Richmond, VA, Jennifer Keith of Yorktown, VA, Franny VanCleave of Williamsburg, VA, Wendy Vaught of Christiansburg, VA, James Jackson of Newport News, VA and Brandon Jackson of Newport News, VA; and her sixteen great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Weymouth Funeral Home with visitation to follow the service. Interment will take place at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
