Shelba Jean McNeely, 81, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 28, 2022. She was born in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was a Poquoson resident for 59 years. She retired from Newport News shipyard after 40 years of service as a clerk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Armstrong Turner and Inez Elizabeth Forest. She is survived by her son, Robert Lynn McNeely Jr. (Julie), daughters Robin Lynn Cooke (Jerry) and Rhonda Lynn Tolbert;Grandchildren Robert McNeely lll, Melissa Conforme, Laura McNeely, Allen McNeely, Christine McNeely, Erick Kornegay, and Taylor Tolbert; Great-grandchildren, Evan McNeely, Zander McNeely, Robert Ford, Jackson Ford, Oakleigh Conforme, Olivia Conforme, Timothy Bateman, and Ethan Kornegay. Her cohort in crime and beloved best friend of 65 years, Katherine Gayle Mintz and Marie Coleman, beloved dog lady.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m., on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Weymouth Funeral Home with Interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
