Sandra (Sandy) Walters Visness of Newport News, VA, departed this life on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. She was born November 28, 1943 in Raeford, NC. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Prudence Walters; stepmother, Elizabeth Walters and sister, Joanne Knott. Sandy is survived by her husband, Tom Visness; brother, Tom Walters; three nieces, Stacey Pimental of NC, Stephanie Wirt of VA, Cheryl Lawson of UT; nephew, Jimmy Knott of UT; three step children, Carl Visness, Tracy Uhlir, and Kris Visness; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren all in North Dakota.
Sandy was a longtime member of the J.C. Penny retail family and had retired from the X33 Paint Department of Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding, formerly Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company. She was a member of North Presbyterian Church and will be missed by her church family.
Sandy’s husband and brother were at her side when she passed peacefully from this world. She will always be remembered for her lively spirit, quick wit and love for her family and friends. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
