Ronald Dale “Ronnie” Drewery passed away late Sunday, January 28, 2018, at home with his loving wife, Iris by his side. Born in Isle of Wight County on September 20, 1955, Ronnie was a graduate of Smithfield High School, Newport News Apprentice School and later the College of William and Mary. A longtime employee of Master Machine and Tool in Newport News, Ronnie enjoyed cooking and traveling.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mark Earl and Nellie Wells Drewery. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Iris Hernandez Drewery; his daughter, Alyson Kelchner Flanagan and grandson, Nolan; his sister, Vivian Drewery Fitchett and brother, Carlton Earl Drewery. Ronnie is also survived by 17 daughters/exchange students from around the world, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Weymouth Funeral Home in Newport News. Burial will be private at a later date at Mill Swamp Cemetery in Isle of Wight County. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ronnie’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
