Celebration of Life: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017
Location: Weymouth Funeral Home Chapel
Norma Jean Crowder Haley, our precious mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on September 20, 2017. We know she ran straight into the arms of Jesus and our precious Daddy. Our parents were inseparable here on earth and although we miss them both, we are rejoicing that they are together once more. Their love and devotion to one another was an inspiration to all who were witness to it. She was born July 15, 1942, in Charleston, West Virginia but chose to call Virginia home.
Mom loved her family, friends and the freedom of this great country. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and cook. Her personality could light up a room and when she got tickled, you couldn’t help but get tickled right along with her. She was a talented local artist and enjoyed crafting. She loved collecting, especially Raggedy Ann and Andy memorabilia and she had such a vast knowledge of antiques that even she couldn’t explain how she came to know it all. She took her skincare very seriously, only the best products would do. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas and she held open houses at her Hilton Village home for others to stop by and enjoy the decorations, some apple cider, and a few laughs.
She honestly loved with all she had and her ability to forgive was a testimony of her relationship with Jesus. She was such a beautiful soul and she never missed the opportunity to let each of us know just how beautiful she thought we were. The two things our parents wanted for our family was to know God and to never let go of one another. We are all committed to honoring their wishes and will continue on with the traditions they have put in place. Their love story will be told for many generations to come.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Haley Sr. (Tommy); her parents, James and Doris Crowder; brothers, Marvin Crowder and Paul Crowder; and her grandson, Kyle Fisk. She is survived by her children, Charles W. Haley Jr. of Yorktown, Rhonda and Joey Pennington of Newport News, and Lisa and Kelly Graves of Saluda; her grandchildren, Kandy, Michael, Melissa, James, April, Chris, Jimmy, Leah, Emily, Haylee, Lexi, Kameron, Kylie, Michael (Bubba), Corey, Christopher, Brayden, Maddie, Olivia, Molly, Parker and Carter; brother, Jimmy; sister, Reba; and dearest friend, Janice.
We invite all extended family and friends to join us to celebrate her beautiful life on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Weymouth Funeral Home in Newport News, VA. A special thank you to Chris Hoyt for officiating the ceremony, May God bless you and your family. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
