Location: Weymouth Funeral Home

Nancy Taylor Wall passed on Monday, January 1, 2018, at the age of 88 in the comfort of her home.

Nancy was born on April 24, 1929, and was raised in Newport News, Virginia. She was a wife, mother, homemaker, an avid Redskin fan and loyal to her dear friend “Elizabeth” her puppy-dog.  She attended Saint Catherine’s Episcopal School located in Richmond, Virginia, and Brenau University in Georgia. She was the youngest daughter of Lucille Bland and Robert Cowles Taylor. Cowles Taylor was the mayor of Newport News, Virginia from 1942 to 1955. As such, he was mayor of the city during World War II, at a time when the city’s ports were used to send American troops to Europe to fight in the war. As was seen during World War I, this activity put a tremendous strain on the city’s infrastructure, and Taylor was instrumental in seeing that the city continued to function despite the effort. She also had a sister, Jean Richie Taylor Theiler, who resided in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, as well as Newport News. She was married to Bud Theiler and had seven children: Bobby, Steve, Jeff, Susie, Teddy, Dick & Judy Ann.

Nancy married Ashley Steinback Wall in May of 1958 and had three children: Lucille Burnette, Ashley Cowles & Ann Taft.  She worked at First National Bank and after having children, she dedicated her free time to the Junior League involving the Haunted House along with other community supporting projects and  was a docent at the Mariner’s Museum as well.  She was a long time member of Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church and served on many committees involving the church.  She was a member of the James River Country Club where one of her many passions was playing golf.  Nancy was a very tenacious and driven woman with enough energy to spare.  You definitely knew where you stood when dealing with Nancy.
She is survived by her two daughters Burnette Wall Reinhard and her 3 children, Lennon, Presley & Ashley and Ann Wall Gaita and her husband, Sam Gaita and son, James Gaita.

A service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Weymouth Funeral Home, 12746 Nettles Drive, Newport News, VA  23606 at 4:00 PM by Rev. Larry Jones of Northside Christian Church, following the service will be a small reception. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
