Matthew Mark Kongoton, 60, died Thursday, April 12, 2018 at home. He was born in Williamston, NC and was a Peninsula resident for the past 40 years. Matthew was an Army Veteran, retired as a welder at the Newport News Shipyard with 38 years of service and was a member of Warwick Assembly of God.
He is survived by his mother, Lillie Jones of Williamston, NC; four brothers, James J. Jones, Jr. of Butner, NC, Henry Jones of Nashville, NC, Lynn Jones of Chesapeake, and Gregory Jones of Manhattan, NY; four sisters, Bertha Purvis of Robersonville, NC, Matrissa Goupil of Rocky Mount, NC, Senfield Williams and Carolyn Hunter, both of Williamston, NC.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am Friday, April 20, 2018 at Warwick Assembly of God Church. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00am at Warwick Assembly of God Church. Interment will be at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
