Mary Jo Williams, 84, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA and had been living on the Peninsula since 1956.
She retired from Newport News public Schools as a Staff Aide after over 25 years of service. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church for 53 years.
Mrs.Williams was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Frances Mazzei; her loving husband of 56 years, William Thomas Williams; a brother, Frank Mazzei; and sister, Angela Palotti. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene W. Raiford (Randy) of Hampton, and son, Leonard Williams; a foster daughter, Tina Davis of FL; two brothers, Samuel and Robert Mazzei of PA; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2018 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church in memory of Mrs. Williams. The family would like to extend their heart-felt thanks to the staff of Morningside Assisted Living and Interim Hospice for all their special care. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
