Lucille M. Butcher, 75, passed away unexpectedly on June 5, 2017. She was born in Braintree, MA to Earle and Mildred Rose, graduating from Braintree HS in 1960. She received an Associate’s Degree from Fisher Junior College in Boston before marrying Robert P. Butcher, who preceded her in death in 2006. She lived in Hingham, MA for 12 years and then moved to East Greenwich, RI, living there for 24 years, ultimately living in Newport News the remainder of her life.
Her passion was her family, raising three children, Robert, Paula, and Rodney. Her children were successful in athletics and education due to her unwavering commitment to them. She was also a formidable golfer, and enjoyed playing and organizing tournaments, but more importantly she loved making friends on the course.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Robert (Renée), Paula (Ron), and Rodney (Julie); and six grandchildren, Bryan, Tess, Damon, Emma, Sara and Sean. Later in life, Lucy enjoyed gardening and maintaining her home that was a shrine to her family memories which included many adored pets. Her grandchildren captured her heart, and she loved to spend as much time with them as possible.
In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made on her behalf to the Peninsula SPCA (https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/PeninsulaSPCA). Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
