LaVerne Yannitello, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on January 17, 2018 at the age of 90. A native of Decatur, Mississippi, Mrs. Yannitello lived in Newport News, VA beginning in 1957 until moving to Richmond, VA in 2011. A long-standing member of Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Newport News, Mrs. Yannitello was an amazing seamstress, cook, baker, and gardener who loved “a little splash of color” in her life as well as “a little something sweet” to eat.
Mrs. Yannitello was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Yannitello and her brothers, Martis and Thomas Harold Pennington. Mrs. Yannitello is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Pamela Yannitello and Rick and Terri Yannitello; grandchildren, Nicholas, Jason, Matthew, and Lauren Yannitello as well as great-granddaughter, Pernella Marie Yannitello.
The family will receive friends from 10:30a.m – 12:00Noon on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Weymouth Funeral Home, 12746 Nettles Drive, Newport News, VA . A private family gathering is planned.
