On the morning of July 27, 2023 at 11:34 a.m., Joseph Edward McCauley, 32, suddenly passed away due to acute liver failure at VCU in Richmond, VA. He later transferred to Christopher Newport University where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2016. He continued his studies to become an Emergency Medical Technician and was close to completing his Firefighters Paramedic Certification. He planned to have a career in the Fire Department as a Paramedic.
Joe loved to play video games, travel, and spend time with friends and family. He had a witty personality and was exceptionally quick to make hilarious comments. Joe was an amazing son, brother, and uncle.

He is survived by his stepfather, Michael Tressel, and mother, Jacqueline Tressel; his eldest brother, Kevin McCauley; his little sister, Catherine McDonald as well as his nieces, Marley, Evelyn, and Rory – with whom he adored so much and their affectionate nickname for him was “Uncle Go-go”.
