Sunday morning, January 30, 2022, Joseph Douglas Hathaway (78) of Portsmouth, Virginia peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord. He was preceded in passing by his father, Edward Pope Hathaway, mother, Mamie Brinkley Hathaway and his beloved, Gloria Ann. He lovingly spoke of them all in his last days as if they were there visiting, bringing comfort before welcoming him home.
He is survived by his two daughters, Beverly Hathaway Cully (Rob) and Teresa Hathaway, a granddaughter, Ashley and a great-grandson, Micah.
He was a faithful member of the Court Street Baptist Church for the past twenty years. Serving the Lord brought joy and peace to his life. He loved his church family and was always grateful for the relationships.
The family will celebrate his life at a Graveside Service at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the Olive Branch Cemetery Portsmouth, Virginia.
