John Wesley Thornton, Sr., 81, of Newport News, VA went to be with the Lord he loved on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. He grew up in the Clarkton and Bladenboro areas of North Carolina. After moving to Virginia, John worked and retired as an electrician at Newport News Shipbuilding. John enjoyed gardening and foxhunting.
He was predeceased by his wife, Cletis Ann and his son, Jeffrey Lynn. John is survived by his sons, Jamie Lee and John, Jr (Sandra) and his grandsons, Dylan and Mason.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park.
