John R. Hardy, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on November 9, 2018 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. John was born on November 17, 1947 in Hampton, VA. He was a graduate of Hampton High School, Class of 1966. He married his childhood sweetheart, Charlotte, who preceded him in his death, as well as his infant daughter, Amy. John was a proud Army 9th Infantry veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Isle of Wight Rescue Squad. He was employed as a Store Manager for Lowes and later had a career with Anheuser Busch, from where he retired.
John is survived by his loving fiancee, Sandy Lemaire; his daughter, Angela H. Wilson and her husband, Joey; his son, John Hardy Jr. and his wife, Amy; and grandsons Joshua, Ethan, and Aubrey. Also left to cherish his memory are his brother, Eddie and sister, Jeannie, along with many other family members and friends.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate his Life will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Weymouth Funeral Home in Newport News, VA with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
