Janet L. Malarkey exited the world to reside in her eternal home on May 29, 2018.  She was excited to see Jesus face to face.  Her prayers upon leaving were that everyone would accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and join her when their time on earth is complete.  Jesus is “The Way, the Truth, and the Life and no one comes to the Father except through him.”  John 14.6

Janet was born in Tyrell County, North Carolina to George and Vivian Liverman in 1938.  She grew up in Hampton; residing in Newport News since 1972.  Her work history began at Fort Monroe, later at Langley Air Force Base, the Hampton Department of Social Services, and Office Manager for Mac Company Construction owned by her husband, and retiring from St. Vincent DePaul Catholic church after 24 years.

Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Robert J. Malarkey, Jr. and her parents.  She is survived by 6 children, Dr. Mac L. Lambert, Jr. (Greg) of Alexandria, VA.  Scott Lambert of Rocky Point, NC, Karen (Robert) Croswell, Gary (Fiancée-Renee) Malarkey, Laura Holmes, and David (Tracey) Malarkey of Newport News, 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, two sisters Judy (Larry) Angle of Yorktown and Alice (Bobby) Baker of Newport News and 3 nephews.  Janet was blessed to have been close to her husband’s family and loved them all very much; three of Bob’s brothers, Joe, John, and Danny, and two sisters, Cecelia Rudy-Martin and Lisa Hitson, his brother, Pat, who has gone to heaven, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Joanie Seeley for coming every Monday on her day off to do mom’s hair.  We would also like to express our appreciation to Riverside Hospice nurses Melissa, Melanie and Stephanie.  They helped us through this very difficult time.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 pm on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 noon by Rev. David Willis with interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, designated for Patient Services, 11835 Canon Boulevard, Suite A102, Newport News, VA 23606. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
