James “Jimmy” Mooney, 91, died on Friday, February 25, 2022 at his home in Kiln Creek. Jimmy was born in Alexandria VA. He met his late wife, Lotte while in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Germany. When he returned to the United States, he was in Texas with the Air Force before returning to Virginia. He then started work at NGIA, which was part of DOD, on Jan 1962 – Oct 1988. When he retired, he and Lotte moved to Virginia Beach and subsequently to Kiln Creek. One of his greatest joys was keeping his yard immaculate. His favorite pets were his cat, Telly and his dog, Raggy.
He is survived by his late wife’s children, Daniela, Dieter and Gloria. Through his late wife he had 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Weymouth Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private in Mt. Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria, VA at a later date. The family would like to express their heart-felt thanks to caregiver, Wendy Sellers for her service and dedication to Jim. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
