Gene Austin Pociluyko, 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. She was born in Smithfield, NC and had been a resident of Newport News since 1957. Mrs. Pociluyko grew up in Hampton, VA and graduated from Hampton High School. She later met her husband Steve at Buckroe Beach, VA, was married and raised her four children in Newport News. Gene was very artistic and enjoyed spending time doing her art-work. She was a long time member of Hidenwood Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Pociluyko was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Pociluyko and her son, Chris Pociluyko. She is survived by her sons, James M. (Debbie K.) Pociluyko of Richmond, VA and Joseph D. (Debbie G.) Pociluyko of Forest, VA; her daughter, Kathy (Marc) Amidon of VA Beach; 8 grandchildren, Russell, Sheri, Drew, and Tyler Pociluyko, Lauren Feliciano, and Saphira Pociluyko, and Kira and Sydney Amidon; and 5 great-grandchildren, Autumn Sky, Giovanni, Isabella, Zechariah, and Philippa Leona.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. in Parklawn Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
