Gary Thon, 66, joined his mother Nita in Heaven on Tuesday, the 21st day of August, 2018. Gary graduated from Denbigh High School in 1970 and resided in Hampton, VA. He retired after 35 years as a Senior Nuclear Quality Inspector at Newport News Shipbuilding. He was a keyboard player in several local bands and sang the blues from the depths of his soul! He was known for his humor, passion for fishing and music as well as his love and dedication to his family and friends.
Gary was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Reene; his father, Walter Thon of Williamsburg; his children, Casey Yarbrough and her husband, Rich of Clearwater, FL, Courtney Richardson and her husband, Mike, of Los Alamos, NM and Travis Thon and his wife, Ashley, of McKinney, TX; his sister, Terry Thon of Williamsburg, VA; his brother, Jon Thon of Gloucester, VA and 8 grandchildren: Alec, Eric, Grace, Luke, Anna, Ryan, Scarlett and Stella.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate Gary’s life will be held on at 3:00 p.m.Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Weymouth Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
