Graveside Service: At A Later Date
Location: Cleveland Memorial Park, North Carolina
December 22, 2022, David Wayne Lee passed away at the age of 73. Born to Delbert and Pauline Lee, David lived the majority of his life among friends and family in Shelby, NC. He moved to Newport News, VA, his current residence, in 2018 to be closer to his daughter, Jessica Spain Green, and his granddaughter, Jada Owens.
Following graduation from Shelby High School, David was drafted and became an honored medic in the Vietnam War. He came home to work as an industrial mechanic, attended community college and later endeavored to start and run his own HVAC/Refrigeration company until his retirement.
David was an avid hunter and marksman who won numerous trophies from a variety of target competitions. He passed on his skill and love for shooting to several friends and family members in a practical and patient manner. David was known for his comical wit and contagious laughter. He loved nothing more than to gather around a grill on a summer day, cooking a juicy steak while sharing hilarious jokes and stories.
David is survived by his aforementioned daughter and granddaughter; his sisters, Rebecca Bumgardner, Janice Kale and her husband, Melvin, Debbie Deal and her husband, Karl as well as 3 nieces and 2 nephews.
In keeping with David’s nature, there will be a small graveside service at Cleveland Memorial Park in the spring to honor his life and death.
David’s legacy was to generously give all he had, to anyone in need, and in remembrance of him, please feel free to make donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in his honor. David freely and openly gave to friends and family often, but this was the one organization to which he donated regularly, and he was in awe of their mission. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
