Jenettha was born to parents, Samuel Brooks and Cecelia Brooks in Roatan, Republic of Honduras, Central America. She was one of 11 children; 3 boys and 8 girls. She was also the younger of a set of identical twin girls. She was very smart (as is her twin sister) and excelled in school. Jenettha and her 1 remaining brother and sisters all eventually moved to the United States. She became a citizen, settling in Brooklyn, NY.

Jenettha joined Beulah Church of the Nazarene in Brooklyn where she met and later married Wendell E. King. They served together on the Missionary Board and sang in the Church Choir. They married in 1960 and 9 months later their first child, Lucinda Vedette King (Ford) was born. They had their second child, Felix Emmanuel King in 1963.

Jenettha studied and went to work as a secretary. She later became a Computer Operator for Citibank at 111 Wall Street where she worked until she retired and moved to Newport News, VA in 1989. Wendell and Jenettha quickly attended and later joined the Newport News Church of the Nazarene where they continued serving on the Mission Board and singing with the choir. Jenettha also co-taught Sunday School. Wendell passed away in August 1995, leaving Jenettha a widow. She continued working as a volunteer at the Hospital Gift Shop for several years before driving became difficult.

Jenettha’s vision and hearing declined, and she chose to stay at home more. In October 2004, Lucinda moved to Newport News from her home in Woodbridge, VA to be closer to her mother. Jenettha was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Lucinda moved in with her mother when it became apparent that she could no longer live alone.

Jenettha suffered a stroke in 2022 causing her health to rapidly decline. She went home to be with the Lord on November 16, 2022, leaving behind to morn her daughter, Lucinda Vedette Ford; her sisters, Edith Perriott, Amalda Byrd (James Byrd), and Lily Rivers; a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren and many brothers and sisters in Christ.

She loved the Lord, and now she is with Him in Glory!!!
