Kyong Su Yi, 65, of Newport News, VA went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 3 2022.
Kyong was born to Chong Un and Yang Chun in Seoul, South Korea. His Christian faith was an essential part of his life. He served as a faithful minister for over 30 years, spending his last 15 years at Beechwood Korean Baptist Church, loving and serving his family and community. Kyong also did missionary work in Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Haiti. He was a great athlete, enjoyed fishing and sports, had a green thumb, and was known as ‘MacGyver’ for being a jack of all trades.
Kyong was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mi; his children, Sin Yi and Gloria Mersiovsky (David); his brothers, Yong Chul Yi and Chang Su Yi (Kristine); and his sisters, Kyong Ja Im (Min Sun), Kyong Sun Oh (Sae Ung), Kyong Ae Kim (Hae Jin), Michelle Cho (Michel), and Janet Moon (Sang Hyun).
The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
