Patricia Mary Barch Bellamy

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2022

Location: Grace United Methodist Church

Patricia Mary Barch Bellamy, 94, went to be with her Lord on September 12, 2022. She died peacefully at the Mennowood Retirement Home.  She was born in Detroit, Michigan. She married Pleasant “Ed” Edwin Bellamy IV, who preceded her in death. Pat was an Interior Designer for Brunk Tile and Interiors in Newport News for over 30 years. Pat and Ed moved their family to Athabasca, Canada in 1974 where they purchased Big Coulee Farms, a 500 acre farm with chickens, pigs and cows. Their son, Rusty, worked side by side with his dad on the farm.

Pat worked at several jobs in Athabasca: administrative support for the County of Athabasca, receptionist at a dental office and administrative support for Athabasca University.

She was active in the community doing volunteer work. Pat, along with the family, volunteered with the Athabasca Agricultural Society in various capacities. She organized a Teen Lunch Program providing soup and sandwich lunches for teens during the school year. She had such a heart for Athabasca; organizing and overseeing the Community Christmas Meal which provided a free meal to the entire community. This event is still active in the community to this today. She had an infectious laugh and fierce love for her Lord.

Pat moved back to Newport News in 2014 where she moved in with her foster daughter, Marie Torres Boyd and husband, Wes. Later in life, she moved into the Mennowood.

She loved working on puzzles and coloring in her spare time. She adored her dog, Max, who also predeceased her.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander Edward Barch and Ann Elizabeth Mackie; her sister, Jacqueline Yvonne Barch and her husband, John Wesley Jones; her brother-in-law, Robert Murray Frost, Jr. and her niece, Penelope Ann Frost. She is survived by her son, Pleasant “Rusty” Edwin Bellamy V and his wife, Agnes; her daughter, Victoria “Vicky” Bellamy; 2 sisters, Wilhelmina Frances Barch and Alynn Edwina Barch and her husband, Samuel David Marks; her brother, Michael Mackie Barch and his wife, Gwendolyn Hart; her granddaughter, Heather Greene and 2 grandsons, David Greene and Stephen Mincone.  She is also survived by her foster daughter, Marie T Boyd (Wes); 3 granddaughters, Kristina Boyd, Elizabeth Boyd Collado (Miguel) and Meredith Boyd; 3 great-grandchildren, Sophia Elizabeth Collado, Wesley Gray Stewart and Miles Alexander Collado and many nieces and nephews, Karen Leslie Jones, Knowles Leroy Jones, Kristie Leigh Jones, Kenneth Lloyd Jones, Robert Murray Frost III, Mackie Alexander Barch, Justin Roberts Barch, Lynn Lydia Aucoin and Suzanne Margaret Aucoin.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Grace United Methodist Church 1209 County Club Road, Newport News, VA 23606. A reception will be held after the service in the fellowship hall of GUMC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hampton Roads Good Samaritan Fund, P.O. Box 298, Lanexa, VA 23089.
