Parma Louise Deas

Celebration Of Life: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022

Parma Louise Deas, 78, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022. She was born in Georgia. She attended the University of South Carolina where she received her bachelor’s degree. Parma later received her master's degree at ODU.

Parma retired from the Newport News School System after over 40 years. She taught high school and elementary school. Parma taught French for 10 years and ESOL for 32 years. She was teacher of the year 2 times; something she and her family were very proud of.

She loved working on her house and in her yard, spending time with her children and grandchildren and simply being retired and enjoying life. She was an amazing woman and a rock to both her sons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Hal Lane and Louise Lane. Parma is survived by her brother, Graham (Joan); her two sons, Jay (Denise) and Lane; her grandchildren, Maggie, Drew, Travis, and Claudia; and her nephews, Trevor, Connor, and Ryan.

She was a very kind and loving mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She touched so many lives with her kindness, wisdom and tenacity for life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Providence United Methodist Church in the fellowship Hall with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Arc of Greater Williamsburg. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
