Nancy Reid Jacobs passed away on August 22, 2022 in Hampton, VA. She was born in Pittsylvania County, VA to William Thomas Reid and Mazie Elmer Roakes Reid. Nancy graduated from Renan High School in Gretna, VA and was employed by the Lane Company in Altavista, VA until her marriage to Curtis E. Jacobs. At the time, Curtis was attending the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School. They made their home in Hampton, VA where she was a wife and homemaker.
Nancy was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and loved them dearly. She enjoyed the yearly family summer vacations at the Outer Banks. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 60 years. She served as the WMU President and member of the Margaret Lamberth Circle for many years. She loved music and sang in the church choir her entire life. Nancy served as the choir librarian and secretary and was a member of the Ladies Trio. Nancy was a talented seamstress and spent hours making beautiful clothes for herself and others. She also cross-stitched intricate pictures that she framed and gave to loved ones as gifts.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Jacobs; her parents; two brothers, Gordon Reid and Kenneth Reid and three sisters, Lucille Austin, Bernice Shields and Marion Williams. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Jacobs Routten and son-in-law, Lennie Routten and Cheryl Jacobs Park and son-in-law, Aaron Park; grandsons, Hunter Routten and his wife, Julianne and Chase Routten and his wife, Caitlin and granddaughter, Rachel Park.
The family appreciates all the love, care and services provided by Kindred Hospice in her last days. Nancy always looked forward to visits by the nurses and caregivers, especially Christina, Gemini, Lisa, and Allie.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Weymouth Funeral Home by Rev. Steve Crane with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. Donations in memory of Nancy may be sent to The Alzheimer's Association or The American Heart Association. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
