Ronald Maddox of Yorktown, Virginia left this earth on July 11, 2022.
He grew up on his parent’s farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and was extremely proud of his lineage linked back to the Chesapeake Bay Settlers. In his youth, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family. He always said that farm life taught him to work smart, not hard.
Later, after leaving the U.S. Air Force and attending college, Ronald settled in Virginia where he met his wife. As a self-described “wild and free” man, he met his match in Susan and they had three daughters together.
Ronald ended his career at NASA, where he found joy and fulfillment in his projects and team. He was a renaissance man who was generous with his knowledge - a true lifelong learner. As well as a man of deep faith in Christ Jesus. In his words, “Me and Jesus had a good run together”.
He was a scuba diver, pit master, fisher, pool boy, tech tinkerer, dad jokester, and designated bug killer. He kept us laughing until the end. He was loved, cherished, and adored by his family.
Ronald was a good man and a great father.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Sidney Ann; parents, Charles and Ada Maude of Maryland, and father-in-law, John Cecconi. Ronald is survived by his wife, Susan and his daughters, Rose and Annie.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Tuesday August 2, 2022. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Calvary Cemetery in Ottumwa, Iowa.
As Ronald’s favorite color was blue, his family would encourage those who join them on August 2nd to wear a shade of blue in his memory.
Arrangements in Virginia will be taken care of by Weymouth Funeral Home and in Iowa by Sinnott Funeral Home.
