Wiseman, Donald “Donnie”, 74, went home to our Lord and Savior on May 10, 2022. Donnie was born to Annabell and Sylvester “Hank” Wiseman in Staunton, VA. Which is where he lived until his family decided to relocate to Newport News, VA when he was 6.
Donnie attended Warwick High School, graduating in 1966. After serving 6 years in the US Army, he returned to Newport News and married his best friend, JoAnn. Donnie retired from the City of Newport News Street Department Supervisor after 35 years. Donnie was the type of person that never met a stranger, regardless of the place. A friendly smile, quick joke or one-liner and people were instantly drawn to him. Donnie was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose - Warwick Lodge 1711, Moose Legion 199 and the American Legion Post 25 where he enjoyed fellowshipping with other members and helping as needed. Family was everything to Donnie and he was known to brag about his often bringing a sparkle to his eye.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Gary and his son, Gregory. Left to cherish his memory is his best friend and bride of 51 1/2 years JoAnn Sweat Wiseman; his daughter, Toni Pachter (RJ) of Chattanooga, TN; his son, Eric Wiseman (Jackie); 3 granddaughters, Ayla, Ali and Lexi of North Port, FL; his sister, Michelle Reynolds (Alan) of Newport News, VA; his brother, Michael Wiseman (Lisa) of Williamsburg, VA and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at 11a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Funeral Service at the funeral home will be held at 12:00 p.m. An Internment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. After services, a Luncheon will be held at the Warwick Moose Lodge, 1711 Warwick Moose Ln, Newport News, VA 23606.
