John R. Kies Bull, 60, passed away on March 29, 2022, In Newport News, VA and was a native of Syracuse, New York.

He attended MTSU in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He loved playing the piano and singing in church and was loved by everyone.

John is survived by his husband, Dale Bull; his parents, Jeanne and Robert Kies; his sisters, Michele Williams, Jodi Towers and her husband, Robert and Lyndsay Kies; his brothers, Lee Kies and his wife, Joni and Jason Kies. He is also survived by his niece, Jordan Working and nephew, Deven Willams.

A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Weymouth Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Peninsula SPCA. https://peninsulaspca.salsalabs.org/donate/index.html

Dale and the kies family I’m sorry for your loss John was loved by everyone that knew him now he is a handsome angel looking down on all his love ones as sick as he was he still made people laugh he will be missed and loved by everyone my prays are with u all

Robert and Jeanne,
I can't imagine the pain of losing a son. Especially such a beautiful soul as John. You shaped a person who would grow to be a man to be proud of. The outpouring from all the people he touched is extraordinary. He left a trail of love along the journey of his life. He loved you. I'm so deeply sorry for your loss.

I remember John as kind. I think he had a way of including people. As a childhood friend of his younger siblings, I can remember times when he was home, he would go out of his way to take a minute and talk - ask a question or tell us about something - usually conspiratorially and with a smile. He didn't have to. He was busy with his life and his music by then. I've also never forgotten how he offered me a perfect short-term job one summer, which in hindsight was probably more John being kind, than John needing to hire someone. I'm glad I knew him.
