Location: Weymouth Funeral Home Chapel

Visitation: Following the Service

Location: Weymouth Funeral Home

Anne Douglas Cook Jones, 76, left this world on Saturday, November 6, 2021 to rejoin her family of origin. She was born March 10, 1945 at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, VA to James and Temple Cook. She was the second child and only girl. Anne was a graduate of Warwick High School and Thomas Nelson Community College.

Anne retired from Thomas Nelson after 28 years as Senior Computer Programmer. Anne loved time spent with her kids, grandkids and her high school and quilting friends. She loved road trips, traveling the world, water and snow skiing, boating and camping.

She had a strong work ethic, led by example and taught us the value of a good hobby. She raised her kids in the church and only one escaped being an acolyte. She grew up at Robert E. Lee Memorial and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Churches. Anne spent her adulthood in St. George’s Episcopal and St. Peter’s Episcopal Churches. She was commissioned to make a quilt for St. Peter’s in New Kent. She made many quilts for family and wounded warriors.

The family is grateful to her hospice nurses, Teresa McGee, Amanda Settlehome, Williamsburg Landing Adult Day Care, and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Jones.

She was preceded in death by her mom, dad, and brothers, Bob, Frances and Benny. She has one younger brother, James A Cooke III. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James “Jimmie” Jones; her three sons, Chris (Robin), Craig (Lisa) and Jeff (Denise); her five grandkids, Katie (Eric), Will (Sydney), Julianna, Erica and Justin.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Weymouth Funeral Home by Rev. Kathy Gray. The family will receive friends following the service. Masks are required. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Anne’s honor to Williamsburg Landing Adult Day Care. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
