Deborah "Debbie" Marie Potts

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021

Location: Weymouth Funeral Home

Deborah “Debbie” Marie Potts, 61, of Newport News passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September 18, 2021. She was born in Newport News, Virginia and lived in Giessen, Germany from 1971 to 1973. Debbie graduated from Denbigh High School. She loved her family very much. Debbie was always willing to help anyone who needed it, even as she was going through her own struggles. She was a proud single mother of a son and a daughter. Many of her friends became family. Everyone called her “Mom” because she was always there to listen and help. She had a love for dolphins and was able to take a trip to the Bahamas and swim with them before she passed away. That was the one thing she had ALWAYS wanted to do. She loved her family and her grandchildren more than anything in the world. Debbie has joined the Lord and is now holding her grandson, Jeremiah, in heaven while spending time with her mother, father and brother. She is greatly missed here on earth, but she is forever in our hearts.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin L. Morgan, Sr and Martha Maria Morgan; her brother, Thomas M. Morgan and grandson, Jeremiah K McCoy.  She is survived by her son, Ronnie Potts and his wife, Sabrina; her daughter, Lisa Potts; her grandchildren, London Lewis and Raheem Lewis, Jr; her sister, Brenda Tolson and her husband, William; her brother Alvin L. Morgan, Jr and his wife, Deborah along with many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Weymouth Funeral Home. The family invites all her friends to come Celebrate her Life with them. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, 601 Children’s Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507.
