Yves Rene Geneste

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2024

Location: World Outreach Worship Center

Yves Rene Geneste, 97, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Rene was born in Paris, France to his parents, Claude & Gabrielle Geneste and older sister, Ghislaine. He married the love of his life, Marie Clouillaut, on July 5, 1955 and had three children: Catherine, Pearl, and his only son, Philip.

Rene attended high school in France and attended college for two years before being drafted for compulsory service at age 20 into the French Army for three years. His sister, who was married to a US Army Officer, sponsored Rene, allowing him to come to the U.S. and became a citizen. He enlisted in the USAF and was soon accepted into Officer Candidate School. He retired after 23 years as Lt Col with the Meritorious Service Medal as Chairman of the Board of Foreign Language Department at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.

After his retirement, he returned to school to complete his master's degree at Colorado College in Pueblo, Colorado. The whole family went to France for one year, then to Fort Collins, CO. Rene worked for 14 years as a technical writer at Woodward Governor and retired one last time.

Rene moved to Virginia in 1989 to be closer to family in Europe. He settled in Newport News and attended Denbigh Church of God, now known as the World Outreach Worship Center (WOW).

Rene enjoyed fencing with the foil, epee, and saber in his youth. He also enjoyed playing chess and evolving himself with church activities and prison visitation ministry.

In his words: “We gave our hearts and lives to our Lord early in the start of our family. I tried to live every day, reaching out to anyone I could to tell about my wonderful Lord. I tried daily to be a living example of his love. As I have passed on into heaven, may my Lord's grace, mercy, and love always be with all my family and friends.” – Rene

He leaves behind a legacy of family to include:
His wife Marie T. Geneste
His three children: two daughters and one son, Catherine, Pearl, Philip
With a legacy of five generations, several who are missionaries.
Four grandchildren with eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
He took great joy in knowing that his legacy is growing and carries on.

We will all miss you "Big Time Papa Rene".

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at World Outreach Worship Center in Newport News, VA with military honors. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
