Larry J. Thomas, 91, of Denbigh, Virginia passed away peacefully Friday, May 17, 2024, after a battle with dementia.  Larry was born to Eugene and Trixie Thomas in Troy, North Carolina.  However, he was raised by his grandmother, otherwise known as “Grandma”.

Larry worked and retired from the Newport News Ship Building and Drydock Company after 35 years as a missile pipe fitter on submarines.  Larry was extremely talented in many other areas, such as, plumbing, building, emergency medicine, and just about anything else you could imagine.   He was always ready to help anyone.  His faith in Jesus Christ was evident by the countless hours he volunteered at Williamsburg Christian Church.

Larry had many loves in his life.  First and foremost, his wife Jessie Mae, who he lost in 2013.  Harley Davidson Motorcycles and his cats (all named Butch) tied for 2nd.  He thoroughly enjoyed camping and going down memory lane with his family and friends with Saturday evening slideshows.

The family would like to thank all his caregivers, especially Grayse Garrett who truly cared about Larry being as comfortable as possible in his final months.

John 14:1-2

I Am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.  In my Father’s house are many rooms.  If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?”

Larry’s room was ready.

A Visitation will take place at Williamsburg Christian Church, 200 John Tyler Lane, Williamsburg, Virginia at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2024 with A Celebration of Life Service to begin at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in memory of Larry to Williamsburg Christian Church to offset funeral expenses.
