Geraldine Iris “Gerri” Solomon Kiser, 93, of Sanford, North Carolina passed away peacefully Monday morning October 30, 2023 at home with her family by her side. Geraldine was born in the summer of 1930 to Ferman Dewey & Bera Solomon both deceased in Moore County, North Carolina.
Raised in the Cameron area of Moore County, she attended Cameron High School, played on the school’s basketball team and attended numerous Baptist churches in the surrounding area that her father, a minster, help start and pastored.
On October 11, 1947, she married Joseph Floyd Kiser (deceased) of Carthage NC. Geraldine and Floyd went on to have three sons, James Randy Kiser (deceased), Danny Taplin Kiser and Joseph Mark Kiser. During their time together, they lived in Newport News Virginia and attended West Hampton Baptist Church for a number of years. They joined and served at Parkview Baptist Church until her return to Sanford, North Carolina in 2005 to reside with her son, Mark. Gerri was a full-time mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She enjoyed her family and friends, attended numerous family functions, reunions, school graduations and wedding ceremonies as well as welcoming all her grand- and great-grandchildren into this world. She continued driving herself to her weekly visits to the hairdresser, local stores and to visit all of her local family in the area. Folks all around were amazed that she continued to drive at 93.
Gerri was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Floyd Kiser; her son, James Randy Kiser; two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her sons, Danny Kiser and his wife, Lynn, Mark Kiser and his wife, Lisa; grandchildren, James Randy Kiser II, Danny Taplin Kiser II and his wife, DeLeslie, David Lynn Kiser and his wife, Teresa, Michael Paul Kiser and his wife, Andrea, Stephanie Bera Kiser, Julia Marie Kiser, Jason Randy Kiser and his wife, Brittany, Christopher Scott Kiser; great-grandchildren, Todd Joseph Kiser, Alexander Lee Kiser, James Fielding Kiser, Danny Taplin Kiser, III and his wife, Dre, Emma Marie Kiser Price and her husband, Dominic, Taylor Elise Kiser Barnhardt and her husband, Trey, Henry Andrew Kiser, Madelynn Bera Parrish, Braxton Levi Humphrey, Gabrielle Virginia Parrish, Lylah Marie Humphrey, Ella Lynn Parrish, Mable Helen Kiser, Ronin Joseph Brown, and Callen Paul Brown.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Peninsula Memorial Park. Please enter at the Nettles Drive gate. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
