Emma Jean Camden, went to be with the Lord, October 29, 2023. She was born in West Virginia. She was the daughter of Mr. Harold R. & Gladys E. Powell. She was a resident of Newport News for over 60 years. She was a member of Denbigh Christian Church and belonged to the Red Hat Society. She worked in the jewelry business most of her life. Her last several years of employment were spent working with Newport News Parks & Recreation After School Program. She enjoyed being with children and was very artistic, often making crafts and her special Halloween costumes for her grandkids. She was a kind, funny person and will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Joe T. Camden, Jr.; her daughter, Shannon Cooper (Jim Cooper); granddaughters, Kelsey Cooper, Kristin Hale (Aaron) and great-grandchildren, Sophia and Stella Hale and Zachary Jeffcoat.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Weymouth Funeral Home by Rev. Cliff Manuel and Rev. Matthew Ferguson with interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Denbigh Christian Church, 816 Moyer Road, Newport News, VA 23608.
