Hannelore K. Voss, affectionately known as “The Oma,” 85, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Mainz, Germany but called Newport News her home since 1968. Oma was a member of the Tidewater German-American Society for over 20 years. She was married to her beloved “Schatz”, Kenneth Voss, for 41 years for whom she is rejoicing to be reunited, along with her sister, Anneliese Pauly and grandson, Gabriel Voss who preceded her in death. Oma often spoke that her Hubby was “sitting pretty” on a bench waiting for her at the pearly gates.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Julie) Voss; and daughter, Karoline Ardis; her grandchildren, Anneliese Anderson, Ashleigh Ardis, and David Voss; her great-grandchildren, Bentley, Reagan and Parker Anderson; her niece, Elvira and nephew, Holger (Birgit) Pauly, in addition to countless other family and friends who loved the Oma. She was a believer and collector of Angels, showcasing over 300 of them in her home, and now Oma will become our Angel.

A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Weymouth Funeral Home with Visitation to follow. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.

Oma we hope you found your “dinks boomps.” We love you!

I met Mrs. Voss through my best friend, Karoline, her daughter. I got to see and talk to Mrs. Voss occasionally and can say she is very pleasant and can be a spitfire too. I am also touched to be an owner of one of those Angels she collected. Now Mrs. Voss is in the arms of Angels. Thoughts and prayers go up for the family.
