God in His infinite wisdom removed from earthly labor to eternal rest, the soul of our beloved son, brother, uncle, and dear friend, Joseph Daniel Sutton on Tuesday, September 24, 2023, at the age of 42.

Joseph was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Barbara (Sutton) Purnell and Jose Rodriguez. He spent the first half of his life attending public schools in both Oklahoma City and in Edmond, Oklahoma. After graduating, he moved to Virginia, where he spent the second half of his life.

Joseph was a hard worker who worked at several jobs before, and after his time spent in the United States Navy. He loved animals, music, and he had a quick-witted sense of humor. He will be missed immensely.

Joseph is survived by his mother and step-father, Barabara (Sutton) Purnell and Charles Purnell, Sr.; his father, Jose Rodriguez; his sister, Leigh Ann Purnell; his step-brothers, Charles Purnell, Jr. (Chuck) and Corey Purnell and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Orcutt Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Bunn officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
