Alan Irwin Weiss, 96, passed away on Sunday August 27, 2023 in his hometown of Newport News, VA. He was born in the Bronx, NY where he met and courted his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Elaine. After they married, they relocated from New York to Newport News, VA and started their family.

Alan was a warm and affectionate man who loved to sing and dance, often belting out his famous “two bars” for impromptu crowds. He loved to entertain and remained active into his 90’s, the life of the party at his lodge affiliations. Alan was positive, happy and genuine. He gave unconditional love to his friends, family and adoring grandchildren.

Alan lived a full life, proud to be a World War II veteran serving the U.S. Navy from 1944 -1946. He loved to work and worked for many years as an electronics technician and salesman in the television and audiovisual industry, including helping evangelist Pat Robertson set up his first television studio. He also worked in flight simulation for NASA, and many later years started his own property management business, Weiss Co.

Alan is survived by his daughter, Shari Wheeler and her husband, Gary Wheeler (deceased); his daughter, Robin Gill and her husband, Chuck; his son, Scott Weiss and his wife, Heather; his grandchildren, Jill Harvey and her husband, Kevin, Amy Miller, Ryan Wheeler and his wife, Arielle, Emma Gill, Hannah and Aaron Weiss; 4 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Ilene Cohen and her husband, Henry and many other loving friends and relatives.

Alan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine and their son, David; his parents, Louis and Martha; his sister, Elaine Pirofsky and his sister-in-law, Teri Teich and her husband, Red.

Alan was loved, honored and cherished by many and kind and welcoming to all. Keep his warm memory always.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Peninsula Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life with follow immediately after the service. Please join family and friends at Alan's last party with music/karoke, good eats, drinks and fun the way he would want all of us to have at American Legion Post 25, 7609 Marshall Ave, Newport News, VA 23605. Alan Fixed Our First Television Set And I Thought That He Was A Doctor Though He Did Not Have A Black Bag Like The Doctors Coming To Your Homes To Make House Calls At That Time Had! Alan Was A Kind And Caring Man And he Worked Very Hard His Entire Life And His Work Ethic Was One That We Should All Ascribe To. May His Memory Forever Be For A Blessing! RIP
