Joan Virginia Scarberry, 93, born in Huntington, WV peacefully returned to the Lord August 22, 2023. Joan was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph's College and served as an accountant and vice president of Seasons Greetings Company of Newport News for many years. She was active in her community, was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church for nearly fifty years and served Catholic Charities of Hampton Roads for over ten years. She found so much joy in her gardening, her plants and her flowers. She had many friends and enjoyed having lunch with her “lunch bunch” and playing a good game of Canasta.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Lee Scarberry. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by six children: son, Michael Scarberry and his wife, Carol Scarberry; daughters, Jody Jones and her husband, Robert Jones, Carole Hudson, Christine Ledford; sons, Timothy Scarberry and his wife, Trae Scarberry and John Scarberry and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Loved by all that knew her, cherished by her family and close friends, her loss will be mourned by all, yet we will find solace knowing that she has found peace in the House of the Lord.

A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday August 31, 2023 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:15 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow the service at Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan’s memory to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 100 Harpersville Rd., Newport News, VA 23601. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
