Lois Maxine Cooper Zuskin, 93, died at home on Sunday, August 20, 2023. Maxine was born in Newport News and graduated from St. Vincent de Paul School in Newport News. After graduating in 1946, she worked for the C&P Telephone Company until 1953. She retired from the telecommunications department of Newport News Shipbuilding in 1993 after 31 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church from 1959 until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bennie Zuskin, Jr.; her parents, Henry and Leona Cooper; her sisters, Mary Katherine White and Lillian Saunders and her grandson, Stephen Cleaton. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Buddy) Norris; her son, Anthony (Michelle) Zuskin; 3 grandchildren, Michael Cleaton, Blake (Kate) Zuskin and Sarah Zuskin and 2 great-grandchildren, Christianna and Makayla Cleaton.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
