Betty Anne Llewellyn Warfel, 91, passed away gracefully in her sleep on Friday, May 19, 2023. Betty moved to Newport News in 1951 to go to work at Fort Eustis. There she met and married Guy A. Duckett, Jr. In October 1955; she resigned from the government to raise a family. Following Guy's death in 1967, Betty returned to work as a federal employee at Fort Eustis. In 1969 she began working at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA. In 1970, she married Larry R. Warfel and remained happily married for 52 years until his death on March 5, 2023. She was a long-time member of Deer Park Baptist Church in Newport News and was a resident of Newport News for over 72 years. She was a loving, generous, and kind Christian wife, mother, sister and friend and will be missed by all of her family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her second husband, Larry R. Warfel; her first husband, Guy Allan Duckett, Jr.; her son, Michael A. Duckett; her father, Clay Hugh Llewellyn; her mother, Ruby Owens Llewellyn; step-mother, Emily Thurston Llewellyn; brothers, John Alden Llewellyn and Clay Hugh Llewellyn Jr., and her sister, Joan L. Staplekamp. She is survived by her daughter, Debra D. Reams (Chris); step-sisters, Sandra Warfel Stennett (Jon) and Patricia Anne Warfel; granddaughters, E. Nicole Reams and Michele P. Reams; brother, Warwick W. Llewellyn (Ginaree), and sister, Margaret L. Adams (Clarence).
The family would like to thank the employees of Northampton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care they provided during the final months of her life. A private Graveside Service was held at Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
