Alline Louise Cheatham, at the age of 75, was reunited in heaven with her beloved son, Phillip Bruner Jr., on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.
The daughter of the late Edward Jackson Merrill and Rose Anne Merrill, Alline was born in Charleston, West Virginia.
Alline worked at BASF before joining Newport News Water Works, where she retired as the first female Treatment Plant Operator/Supervisor for the city of Newport News.
In her spare time, Alline enjoyed volunteering and helping those in need. She was a long-time member of Menchville Baptist Church, where she taught and attended Sunday school. Any of her other free time was spent with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Alline was preceded in death by her son, Harry Phillip Bruner, Jr.; sisters, Judy and Rose Marie, and brothers, Edward, Danny, and David.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her husband of 20 years, Ranny Cheatham of Newport News; daughter-in-law, Annette Bruner of Michigan; children, Kent Jackson Bruner (Chris) of Bonaire, Joseph Scott Bruner (Lindsay), Tim Cheatham and Debbie Waldron of Newport News; nine grandchildren, Brittney Bunker, Dianna Jo Holley, Phillip Joseph Bruner, Jennifer Bruner, Kymber Bruner, Brooke Bruner, Allen Bruner, Patrick Waldron, Zyre Bruner; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Barbara of Florida, Donna Gould, Christina Yates and Lisa Merrill of West Virginia as well as several beloved extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Menchville Baptist Church, located at 248 Menchville Rd, Newport News, VA, 23608. Funeral services will be conducted immediately after at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be private at Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
