Blanche Camilee Sawyer Zornek went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the age of 98. She was born in Bayboro, NC to Henry and Carrie Sawyer and was a graduate of Stonewall High School. Blanche trained as a secretary at Kee Business College in VA, worked for the US Navy during World War II and Norfolk Chamber of Commerce for many years. She retired from the Virginia Dept. of Rehabilitative Services in 1994.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Henry Jr. and Wayner Sawyer; her sister, Gentry Young and her grandsons, Eric Zornek and Christopher Lyman. She is survived by her son, Dr. Nicholas Zornek, Jr.; her daughters, Carol Lyman, Vickie Holloway and Sarita Crawford; her grandchildren, John Williams, Jason Zornek, Anna Zornek Spacone, Scott Zachary Hall, Micah Crawford, Rebecca Holloway Grogan, James Marshall Holloway, Amy Holloway Cox and six great-grandchildren.
Blanche will always be remembered for her kind, loving and generous spirit.
A Funeral Service will be held at noon on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Weymouth Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park, after which attendees will be gathering at Angelo’s Steak and Pancake House at 755 J Clyde Morris Blvd, Newport News, VA.
Those unable to attend may join us via our Zoom call, scheduled for 3:00. An iPad will be passed around for ease of viewing. A text notification will be sent if the time needs to be moved up a bit. Passcode: a1DvPW
