“The life of the party,” Tracy Flint, 56, transitioned into his new life on February 8, 2023 after a lifetime of showing us how to laugh and find humor throughout life.

Tracy was kind, caring, and giving, bringing big smiles to everyone who knew him. For decades, he was best known for serving as the House MC for Cozzy’s Restaurant and Comedy Club in Newport News. Tracy was already laughing when he stepped onto the stage. That became contagious as he welcomed hundreds of comedians to Cozzy’s and set the stage for thousands of patrons to enjoy the best of stand-up comedy. Tracy was so entertaining that many initially thought he was the opening act. He coined the memorable term “Cool...Stay Cool.”

Tracy graduated from Menchville High School with the Class of 1984, attended CNU (then CNCC) for two years, and then started his career in management for pharmacy retailers in several locations on the East Coast.

In addition to his memorable hosting at Cozzy’s, Tracy became a mainstay in helping Robert L. Drake develop and manage the Loyal Order of Moose #1711, known as Warwick Moose. He served as a loving umpire for Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken Little League teams sponsored by Warwick Moose.  He also served at the Lodge for decades, assisting his mother, LaVerne Flint, with her forty-year devotion to the baseball program.

Tracy is survived by his sister, Tamara Flint Dessoffy and her husband, Robert Dessoffy; his nephews, Robbie Dessoffy and Noah Dessoffy, and his loving niece, Heather Flint.

He was preceded in passing by his brother, Rodney Flint; his mother, LaVerne Flint; his father, Charles C. Flint and mentor and best friend, Robert L. Drake.

The family would especially like to thank Dr. George J. Kannarkat and the staff at Riverside Oncology, also the nurses in CCU and 5 West. A special thank you to Robert Dessoffy for the constant love, devotion and care, and staying by his side until he passed.

A Memorial Service will be held at Weymouth Funeral Home 12746 Nettles Drive, Newport News, VA, on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 1:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Warwick Moose Lodge and Family Center, 1711 Warwick Moose Lane, Newport News, VA 23606.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to Moose Heart for Children, which is a foundation for underprivileged children, provided through the Moose Lodge. Please mail donations in Tracy’s name directly to the Warwick Moose Lodge.

Tracy Flint, never at a loss for words and never missing an opportunity to laugh, would have one thing to say about leaving this life:

“Cool... Stay Cool.”
