On Saturday, June 10, 2023, Faye Carol Mason passed away at home in the presence of her beloved husband of 63 years, Eulas W. “Sonny” Mason. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Together, Sonny and Faye Carol built a loving family that grew to include Kathy Hutcheson and her husband, John, and Ronnie Mason and his wife, Lisa. She also helped raise her five grandsons through many game nights and sleepovers, which grew again with the addition of three granddaughters by marriage and two very special great–grandchildren.
Over the years, Faye Carol spent countless hours as an active member of North Riverside Baptist Church as WMU Chair, Sunday School teacher, VBS leader, and counting committee member. Her love and commitment to the work of the church was strong and continued through her later membership at First Baptist Church Newport News (FBCNN).
The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Service in Celebration of Faye Carol’s life will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to FBCNN Compassion Ministry, First Baptist Church, Newport News, 12716 Warwick Blvd. Newport News, VA 23606, which supplied the family with delicious weekly meals during the last few months of Faye Carol’s illness.
