Ellen “Mimi” Oncken of Williamsburg, VA , 71 slipped away peacefully in her sleep on December 31, 2017. She was the loving wife to Alan Oncken, passionate grandmother to Paige, Drew and Gavyn DeBerry and attentive daughter to Eleanor M. Lusse. She was the supportive parent to Jeffrey DeBerry and wife, Cathy and Stephanie DeBerry; she was the compassionate sister to Lyn Vaughn and husband, Steve, Susan Lusse, David Lusse, and Debbie Adams. Aunt Mimi simply adored her nephews and nieces and their “babies.” Ellen held dear to heart her Oncken family and a host of friends that she considered her family. She was preceded in death by her father Arvol “Pete” Lusse.
A Memorial Service Celebrating her life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Chestnut Memorial United Methodist Church by Rev. Robert M. Chapman, II. The family will receive friends following the service at the church reception hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Peninsula Foodbank. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
