Edgar Norman Parker, 83, died peacefully at home with his loving family at his side on August 7, 2017, after a battle with cancer. Norm was born on December 27, 1933, in Matoaka, West Virginia, and spent his childhood on Browning Lambert Mountain. Norm earned a B.S. in Engineering in Chicago in 1955, and served three years that he fondly remembered in the Army working on the Nike Ajax missile. After serving honorably in the Army, he began working in the Electronic Systems Test Department at the HII Newport News Shipyard. Norm worked at the Shipyard for 36 years, after which he began an active retirement. Norm enjoyed tending his garden, playing horseshoes with his buddies, and working on projects in his garage for the family. Norm had an inventive mind and a great sense of humor, which will be missed dearly by his loved ones.

Norm was predeceased by his beloved parents, Edgar and Gwen Lusk Parker; and his siblings Hershel, Evelyn, Ardith, and Keith.

Norm is survived by his loving wife Jane; his children, Kevin (Eileen), Wendell, Kristi, James (Cathy), Bonnie (Frank), Catherine (Wendy); his grandchildren, Stephanie, Tara (Brian), Jacob, Will (Peggy), James (Rebecca), and Kimberly; and his brother, Arnold (Linda). He is also survived by four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and other loved ones. The family would particularly like to acknowledge Jacob, Tara, and Brian for their attentive care during Norm’s illness.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00pm Friday, August 11, 2017 at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2pm at the Weymouth Funeral Home Chapel, with Interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park with Military Honors. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
