It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Whitmer Pittman, who peacefully departed from this world on December 15, 2023, in her home surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Francis Pittman, and is survived by her son Michael Pittman and wife Karen of Mathews, and daughter Michelle Arents and husband Bob of Richmond. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren Evan Arents, Emma Arents Quagliano and husband Jim, and Justin Pittman and wife Megan and their daughter Aubrey. Also left to cherish her memory are her sister Linda Spruill and brother Al Whitmer.
“Bobbie” will always be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and her natural ability to make everyone feel welcome. She was a tremendous athlete, cook, seamstress, and gardener. She will be profoundly missed and forever cherished by all whose lives she touched.
On Thursday, December 21, the family will receive visitors at 11:00 a.m. at Weymouth Funeral Home immediately followed by a Service in the Chapel at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park beginning at 1:00 p.m.
